All of you reading this have a connection to our small-town slice of Kansas, our supportive communities and our dedicated leaders. Many of you are alumni and some of you were lucky enough to be coached by Coach Richard Rosenfield and/or Coach Ron Lee. But even if you weren’t, the value of an inspiring coach on and off the field is something that has touched many of our lives, and our children’s lives.
A good coach can instill self-worth and self-confidence, can teach perseverance and the meaning of teamwork, can demonstrate a strong internal compass, and can open doors to a successful future. A great coach can be life altering.
Coach Rosenfield and Coach Lee inspired generations of Onaga youth. The Ron R. Lee and Richard J. Rosenfield Athlete – Scholar Award was established to continue their spirit of leadership and to inspire and reward excellence in our students.
Several anonymous and generous alumni have issued a challenge, calling upon our communities to help fund this scholarship so that it will always be a source of support and pride for USD 322 Onaga – Havensville – Wheaton Buffaloes. The anonymous donors are matching all donations to the Lee/Rosenfield Scholarship during the week of May 2nd – May 8th, dollar for dollar up to $10,000, bringing the maximum project total to $20,000! Success in this endeavor will secure a solid future of support for Onaga student athletes.
The Onaga Football Alumni group has stepped up to help sponsor this event. They will donate half of the proceeds from their Golf Tournament on Mother’s Day, May 8th, to the Lee/Rosenfield Scholarship!
